In this final chapter: Frodo, Sam, & Smeagol continue to journey to destroy the ring while the other remaining bits of the fellowship end up meeting in Minas Tirith under siege by Sauron's armies.
This movie wrapped up everything pretty much by the book. At clocking in at over 4 hours (for the extended version), the movie still doesn't drag.
Highlights are: The battle for Minas Tirith, the return of Gollum, Shelob, Sam not giving up (which shows just how much he cares for his friend and how even if Frodo gives up, Sam won't).
For all the crap people gave the hobbits for being "gay", etc. The movie takes place in an alternate distant past with entirely different cultures, so let it go. The movies, like Superbad address hetero male fondness very well, and that is all this was. I have friends that I would do almost anything for (including carry them up a volcano if need be), and if you don't, perhaps you should re-examine why you suck.
What didn't I like about the movie...take a guess: Arwen. I understand she needed to be there, or they wasted a lot of time in the previous movies, but I could have done without scene after scene of her crying. I also was hoping they would explain a bit more about Saruman and how he was powerless. Lastly, they never explained why Denethor was crazy. In the book, he was basically driven insane by one of the seeing stones. They could have easily spent 30 seconds explaining that, by cutting out one of Arwen's crying scenes.
